Alan’s Story

Background
Alan struggled from considerable back pain caused by a number of incidents over the course of a year.

The first, which resulted in two collapsed vertebrae, was caused by tripping over an extension cord. After having his vertebrae repaired at the Indiana Back Pain Center, Alan returned to his exercise routine.

The second injury occurred when he fell at an exercise class and sustained a cracked vertebrae. He knew exactly who to turn to – Dr. Yedlicka, the doctor at the Indiana Back Pain Center, who had treated him so successfully after his first injury. That would not be the last time Alan would turn to Dr. Yedlicka.

In the fall of 2013, on a trip to Greece, Alan was lifting some bags when he felt a sharp pain in his back. Once again he turned to his doctor at the Indiana Back Pain center – and, once again, he was successfully treated.

Solution
Dr. Yedlicka performed kyphoplasty – a minimally invasive non-surgical outpatient treatment that creates space between collapsed vertebrae.

Results
Within days of his treatments his back pain was virtually eliminated and he was able to walk without the considerable pain he had been suffering. The treatment has kept Alan active and mobile. Most importantly, he is sleeping better and enjoying his friends and family without the back pain that kept him from living his life to the fullest.

“I was extremely impressed with the professionalism and friendliness at the center,” he said. “The staff was right there with me from the beginning, guiding me through the process, which made me a lot less anxious. I wasn’t apprehensive because I trusted them. The transformation has been amazing.”

Susan’s Story

Background

Susan was suffering from daily fatigue, discomfort, and pain in her legs. She had large throbbing varicose veins that were gradually worsening. After researching the issue and learning about the long-term implications, she made the decision to seek treatment.

Solution

Susan went to the Vein Center of Indiana with specific expectations, namely that she wanted a minimally invasive procedure. Susan didn’t want to have surgery and with her busy schedule didn’t have the time for the two-week recovery.

After seeing Dr. Ehrman’s name in the Top Docs feature in Indianapolis Monthly magazine, she decided to come in for a consultation. She had looked into several treatment options and was intrigued by EVLT (Endovenous Laser Therapy), an outpatient, non-surgical procedure that took about one hour. Susan was also relieved that the procedure didn’t require a lot of medication. Following her consultation, she made the decision to have the procedure

Results

“My legs feel like they did 10 years ago,” she said. “Now I don’t have the discomfort and fatigue that I had before my treatment.”

Susan was extremely pleased with the professionalism from the staff at the Center. She felt, through the entire process, they were friendly, accommodating, and pleasant to work with. Since her procedure, Susan has referred three other people to the Center, including her husband. They’ve all been happy with the outcomes.

“And I really liked Dr. Ehrman,” she said. “She wasn’t intimidating and has a great sense of humor.”

Angela’s Story

Background

Angela suffered relentless fatigue. In fact, she didn’t realize how horrible she constantly felt because it had become the new normal for her. She was extremely anemic and, due to lack of iron, was suffering from pica, a debilitating eating disorder. Unexpected spotting and blood clots caused Angela constant worry and she endured heavy menstrual flow. And if she stood up too quickly, she often felt dizzy and saw spots. After years of suffering, she made the decision to seek treatment.

Solution

Angela visited the Indiana Fibroid Center to find a solution for her health concerns. She just had to find a way to improve her health and put an end to her discomfort. Following her visit with Dr. Karen Ehrman, an appointment was scheduled for Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE).

Results

“I feel amazing now,” she said. “I can’t remember the last time I felt this great!”

Angela was extremely impressed with the doctors and staff at the Indiana Fibroid Center. They answered all of her questions and made sure she felt comfortable throughout the procedure. She was especially surprised at how rapidly she noticed an improvement in her health. “I was warned that I might be in some pain after the procedure, but I’ve had little or no cramps since. The healing process was quick and relatively painless.”

Angela said she would highly recommend UFE to anyone experience similar health issues.

“I’ve lost more than 40 pounds because I’m able to work out again. I have normal periods, I’m off my iron supplements, and I no longer get dizzy,” she said. “And the best part – now I am able to start a family.”
